Feature Matches

We have four Semifinals on tap, oneFinal, and arguably the most important game of the season in the EnglishPremier League.  This afternoon Barcelona host a well rested Chelseaside at the Camp Nou, in what will be an epic Champions League Semifinal(12:45pm ko).  Barcelona suffered a tough loss at home to the Maderistasover the weekend, and everyone is wondering if they have enough left in thetank to overtake a one goal aggregate deficit to Chelsea at home.  Thiswill be an incredible battle, with everything on the line for both Clubs. In our other Champions League Semifinal Real Madrid will host BayernMunich with a Wednesday lunchtime kickoff, having to overcome a 2-1 loss inGermany.  If Bayern advance they will be the first ever side to play theChampions League Final at their home ground.  They have their work cut outfor them though, as Madrid is riding a super high after defeating Barca thispast weekend.  To the Germans advantage they, like Chelsea, were ableto rest the bulk of their squad over the weekend.  This will be anothercracker of a match, with everything on the line (12:45pm ko).

In our own region, we have the CONCACAFChampions League Final culminating Wednesday evening.  This year, twoMexican sides battle it out for the title, with Santos Laguna hosting Monterrey. Laguna is trying to overcome a two goal deficit, and are counting onAmerican International (and former Rapids player) Hercules Gomez to supplysome much needed attacking firepower.

Our ColoradoRapids suffered their third defeat in a row this past weekend.  Thelast three losses have all been against Western Conference Competition, andwith 2/3 of our regular season schedule against Western teams this year, theRapids must dig deep and find a way to compete.  This weekend ChivasUSA comes to town and this will be a prime opportunity for Colorado toright the ship.  The Bulldog Supporters Group ( will behosting a tailgate/bus trip from the Pub.  When your team is on the rocksthey need your support more than ever, so lets get out and stand behind ourteam in support at this critical time in their season.

On the tail end of the weekend, Mondayafternoon, we have a huge EPL fixture to look forward to.  ManchesterCity (80pts) host Manchester United (83pts) in a game that willlikely decide this years Barclays Premiership title.  United were held toa draw last weekend, while City took three points to close the gap.  Cityhold the advantage on goal differential, so with a win they would findthemselves top of the table with only two matches to play.  These twoClubs really "Love" each other, adding plenty of fuel to the fire forthis clash!

A quick reminder to join us for the Root 40Music festival this week, as the Lions will be hosting live music all week(starting tonight).  Tuesday (7:30pm Gil Buisson), Wednesday (7pm MarkRisius/followed by Music trivia) and Thursday (9pm Phil Nadeau), are allacoustic acts.  Friday night a local Bluegrass band, Broke Bridge, brings the sound of the Mountains to the Lions.  They fire up at 10pm, anda minimal cover charge of $3 will be collected at the door to help support thislocal band.  Saturday night we have our highlight of the week, with theMaynard Mills Blues Revue returning to the Lions for a night of rockinBlues.  Maynard plays everything from his own originals, to Jimi Hendrixcovers, and my favorite, the Mississippi Delta Blues.  Again a $3 covercharge will be collected at the door to help support one of the best localBlues Bands in Denver.  Dont miss this unique opportunity to enjoy someterrific live music at the Lions!
