Feature Matches
A full line up of World Cup Qualifiers starts our week today, with England v Ukraine as our feature lunchtime match. Many of the top European nations will be featured this afternoon as well, with a couple of terrific South American WCQs in the late afternoon. That leads us to our match of the day, as theUSMNT face Jamaica for the second time in less than a week. The USA suffered a disappointing loss away last Friday, and will be seeking revenge (and crucial qualification points) on home soil this evening. Coach Klinsmann has all but guaranteed a positive result, as the pressure mounts on his side to cement their spot in the second stage of World Cup Qualifying. This match kicks off at 6pm, and falls into our afternoon Happy Hour at the Lions. Two other great matches round out the evening, with Mexico taking on Costa Rica, and Peru battling Argentina.
Friday evening at the Pub features two big MLS match ups. First Sporting K.C. (1st in the East) host Houston (3rd) with a dinnertime kick off. A win for Houston, and they will only trail SKC by two points for top of the table in the Eastern Conference. Immediately following this match our Colorado Rapids face the L.A. Galaxy away, with a chance to keep their hopes alive to squeak into the playoffs. The Rapids trail Vancouver by eight points with only six games remaining. A win here, which would certainly be an upset by this seasons standards, would set them up for a huge clash against Vancouver the following Sunday. The Rapids other worry comes from Chivas, who trail them by one point with two games in hand. It will be tight, but there is hope for the Burgundy Boys yet!
The weekend is stacked heavily for a great Saturday, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool,Barcelona, and Real Madrid all taking to the pitch. Later in the afternoonPortland and Seattle clash in a Pacific Northwest derby, and hopefully Dallas delivers a blow to Vancouvers playoff hopes. Sunday we will be open early for a Championship fixture asWolves take on Leicester City, followed by Reading v Spurs. The weeks football culminates with a Monday lunchtime match betweenEverton and Newcastle. The Pub will be featuring Fish & Chips on special for $7.50 during Mondays lunchtime football.
